About Us
About Lusaka College of Nursing and Midwifery
The Lusaka College of Nursing and Midwifery (LUCON) is a leading public institution for training healthcare professionals in Zambia. Established in 1968, it is located within the University Teaching Hospitals (UTHs) between the Women and Newborn and Children’s Hospitals. While part of UTHs, it operates administratively under UTH – Adult. As a center of excellence in nursing education, LUCON offers specialized programs under the Ministry of Health, ensuring highly trained nurses capable of delivering advanced patient care. Our central location allows us to match medical advancements, reducing the need for overseas treatment. We take pride in our Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Bachelor’s degree programs, accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ). Our curriculum equips students not only with clinical expertise but also the resilience, agility, and empathy required for modern healthcare challenges. With plans to introduce Cardiac and Renal Nursing programs, LUCON continues to expand its specialties to serve the community comprehensively. We are also working towards recognition by the Higher Education Authority, soon transitioning into a University College with more Bachelor’s degree offerings.
