About Critical Care Nursing
Critical Care Nursing (CNN) is specialized branch nursing which aims at equipping nurses with specialized knowledge and skills of caring for acute and critically ill patients with their families. The programme empowers nurses to build abilities and competencies essential for specific treatment plans of caring for patients with life threatening problems and being supported with life saving measures including patient centered care & management, including medical & surgical treatment addressing critical emergencies, health-education and development. This training programme not only empowers students with in-depth knowledge and understanding of critical illnesses, prevention, care and promotion of health, it also allows them to gain hands-on experience as they care for patients in the various critical care settings. Students are tasked with assessing the risks and benefits of proposed medical interventions, rendering life-saving treatment in emergency situations, and nursing patients back to health. Critical care nurse are responsible for highly technical patient assessments, implementing complex patient care plans, and the administration of extensive medication protocols.
